PagerDuty

Trigger on-call incidents from high-significance competitor events.

Setup

  1. Log in to PagerDuty → Services → select your service.
  2. Click the Integrations tab → Add an integration.
  3. Search for Events API v2 and add it.
  4. Copy the Integration Key (routing key) and paste it in Settings → Integrations → PagerDuty.

Severity mapping

  • high significance → PagerDuty severity: warning
  • medium significance → PagerDuty severity: info

What it looks like

RivalVantage triggers an incident in PagerDuty with these details:

Incident triggered: RivalVantage — Acme Corp pricing shift
Severity: warning
Body: Removed free tier from pricing page.
Dedup key: rv-obs-42

Troubleshooting

  • HTTP 400 — invalid routing key. Re-copy from the PagerDuty integration page.
  • Incidents not creating — confirm integration type is "Events API v2" (not v1).
