RivalVantage ("we", "us", or "our") is a competitor intelligence service that monitors public web surfaces on behalf of teams. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal data when you visit our website or use our service.

2. Data we collect

Information you provide

When you request early access or create an account, we collect:

• Name and email address
• Company name
• Names of competitors you want to track
• Any other information you choose to provide in forms or support communications

Usage and analytics data

We use PostHog and Rybbit to understand how visitors interact with our website and product. This may include pages visited, features used, clicks, session duration, and browser or device type. This data is associated with a pseudonymous identifier and your email if you are logged in.

Payment data

If you subscribe to a paid plan, billing and payment information is collected and processed by our payment processor. We do not store full card numbers or sensitive payment credentials on our servers.

Data collected automatically

Standard server logs may capture your IP address, browser user agent, and referring URL when you access our website. This is used for security and operational purposes only.

• To process payments and manage your subscription
• To send transactional communications (e.g. signal alerts, account notices)

We process your data based on your consent (where required), the necessity of performing our contract with you, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following sub-processors:

• PostHog — product analytics
• Rybbit — web analytics
• Our payment processor — billing and subscription management

Each of these vendors is bound by their own privacy terms. We require that they process your data only to provide services to us and not for their own independent purposes.

We may also disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of RivalVantage or others.

5. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Early access request data is kept until we launch or until you ask us to delete it. On account closure, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Data storage and security

Your data may be stored and processed outside India. Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps to ensure it receives an appropriate level of protection. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by law.

7. Your rights under the DPDP Act 2023

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), you have the following rights:

• Right to information: Know what personal data we hold about you and how it is processed.
• Right to correction and erasure: Request that we correct inaccurate data or erase data we no longer have a legal basis to hold.
• Right to grievance redressal: Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer. If unresolved, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
• Right to nominate: Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.

8. Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for analytics purposes (PostHog, Rybbit). By using our website, you consent to the use of these technologies. You may configure your browser to block cookies, though some site features may not function correctly.

9. Children's privacy

RivalVantage is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted personal data to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes and update the effective date above. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
